We parted ways, me and my 2 monkey friends. I was walkin' to the bus interchange. I was quite late already, and I think dats the last bus. By the time I go to the MRT station, cfm no train dy. Then I passed a bush. And smthg jumped on me.
I felt its teeth sink into my flesh and wouldn't let go. I struggled. Pain shoot up from my arm to my neck. I tried to push it away, but it grabbed tighter. I pulled it by the neck with my left hand. And in desperation, I strangled it. I never thought I would EVER strangle a dog. It was a rather small dog. Small but ferocious dog. It became a little weak, and I dropped it.
Someone came to my aid, chased the dog away. He caught me just before I fell. Suddenly, I felt blood oozing out from my arm. I heard him say some artery or vein tore. He sat me by the kerb. I applied pressure. I saw a laceration, almost my entire arm length. I could see my radial and ulna. I held my arm tighter. The bleeding refused to stop.
I saw him dialling for the ambulance. What went through my mind was "Die. Im gg to hospital dy". And with this kind of a laceration, im definitely gonna go emergency op. I can imagine myself being put under General anasthesia, I can imagine myself being intubated. But what the hell, I just ate awhile ago leh.. Confirm aspirate laa like dat. I can imagine the pain post op. I can imagine a whole line of sutures. I can imagine the nurses and doctors reading my case notes. "Attacked by a stray dog"
Now my right arm is throbbin' like nothing. My left arm felt sore too, but not as bad I guess. I felt dizzy as my arms started havin' tingling sensations. I could still feel the blood flowing out. I feel cold. I saw double, blurry vision. That guy who helped me, and anader guy. That anader guy was wearing different. No, no.. I saw triple.. But there was anader 2 guys. What the hell, why so many guys when I damn unglam. Dat must be the paramedics. Who cares, as long as I dont die, I'm fine with it. They took my bag. They put me flat on something. I felt breathless. I dont know if someone bagged me, or gave me super high dose of oxygen. I was choking, but I couldn't speak. I was suffocating, so bad, I wish someone knock me out. I probably fainted, but I could still feel. Someone was inserting plug on my left hand. Someone was bandaging my right. The pain was radiating to I dont know where. I felt pain and numbness all over my body. I felt myself sweat. Cold sweat. I am afraid. I want to cry. Afraid of what will happen. Afraid of what will become of me. And shit, I'm on PM tomorrow. (What a time to think of this). Probably not so serious, I hope I wont lose my arms. Guess not, I've seen cases worst then this.
I heard the voice of the guy who saved me. Ohh. he is in the ambulance with me?! He damn nice, when I'm okay and back in the ward. I must find out who he is (: I heard the paramedic say.. "TTSH, resus, 19yro, female, attacked by dogaccording to friend, sustained lacerations, excessive bleeding, pt drowsy" Lolx. so that guy is my friend?! hahax, how come i din know. This felt like mass casualty come true.
And before I knew it. I was on the ward bed. My right arm like ba chiang. The staff nurse like familiar. The Assistant nurse also look familiar. The patient beside my bed, also look familiar. Oh well, its TTSH mah.. Environment of cos familiar la. But then again, the ward brother like familiar leh. I talked to him ytd wadd. OMG! it's my PRCP ward laa. 12D. O_o
*Feels damn real, Sounds damn real.* So real, I almost overslept. So real, I was worrying about replacing PRCP in my dream. Why am I always havin' weird dreams lately? -------->Gina O_o

SN jamilah let me call Dr. todae (: and I learnt smthg from her. Cos Dr. answer phone calls like this... Me : Hello, Dr. Tay? Her : uh. call me for wad? [impatient tone] Me : (then u must blabber what you haf to say within the next 3 seconds) like this --> calling from ward 12D, bed *** #NOF, TOC 10am today. NPU since then. Bladder scan done, 823ML, pt complain of pain, cannot PU, can insert IDC? Her : OK. can. *Toooot toooooot....* Sometimes, i think Dr. also nv really listen to us. But, they say can then can lor. cos DOCTOR mah. Staff nurse say it is like that one laa. So we must learn to be thick skin, talk like we dont bother about their tone. Honestly, I really dont bother. Cos im quite thick skin dyy, so okok laa uhh.
I never mention any names here uh.. Singapore got many Dr. Tay okays? So I think I wont go to court (:
Anyways. Today in the ward, im totally freaked out. Cos patient say she saw "smthg" at the window(& catch the cat), Dr. say pt is mentally unsound... Put pt on behavioural chart. SN Letchumi told Jena that pt is not lying. Cos she saw too.
Usually I enjoy going supplies room... Cos can take alcohol swabs, tegaderms and put inside pocket. But today... I go sluice room, prep room, store room, supplies room, toilet, tearoom.. whenever im alone. I'M SCARED.
Even when I go home, take lift, reached home, bathing.. I also scared ): I'm not lookin' forward to night shifts anymore.

1st dae in the ward. BORING - Cos we got no idea wad to do yet..
SIAN - Cos no aircon, so got 6 pts in each cubicle.
MESSY - Cos got 1 NP student 2 weeks ahead of us. - And over 15 ITE year 1 students with their last week.
- And now, 7 NYP students join. SLACKY - Cos we dont haf to fight for things to do with them.
The hospital knows nurses need some encouragement. So, TTSH bought the staffs ICE CREAM! (:

PRCP is tmr. It might be hell. It might be like our usual posting. It might be better.
First, let's be sore abt it. Damn! 3 mths of no freedom. Why did we join nursing in the first place? Feel that tinge of regret? No turning back!
Then we look on the brighter side. We're growing up, being more mature. We get to see handsome/cute patients or doctors. We get to collect alot of things from wards. We don't rot at home. (we haf attachment to do) We learn to appreciate things. (the dinner that awaits at home) We learn to cut our fingernails regularly. We learn to communicate with ppl. (decoding of Dr. handwritings) We'll learn to treasure freedom. We learn to slp early, and wake up early, and not be late. Thuzar will master wearin' gloves, gown and mask within 5 secs. We learn to look at the bright side. (to make ourselves less miserable)
okays, maybe it ain't so bad. It's just 3 mths. What's the big deal? We can do it!
okays. now my hair dry dyy. I can go slp dyy. 2am dyy!!! HAPPY PRCP NR0630! Let's pray for nice preceptors who don't eat students. "God.. if you gimme a nice preceptor.." (:
